Monday 1st January 2018
It is all too easy to be slightly cynical about the start of a New Year.
Will it really be any different? Will those resolutions be kept?
You’ve been there before, and you can’t really see things changing.
Or can you?
The readings this week are reflections on the start of a New Year.
We place ourselves in God’s hands, and trust Him for all that is to come, regardless of our fears or past experiences.
Our times (and everything else) are in God’s hands – and He is good!
Read Psalm 31 Hope for the Future. A prayer for today
Vv 13-14 But I trust in you, Lord;
I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands;
My times are in Your hands, O God,
Give me hope for the journey.
My times are in Your hands, O Lord,
Give me courage for the journey.
My times are in Your hands, O God,
Give me light for the journey.
My times are in Your hands, O God,
Give me justice for the journey.
The future stretches out before me, full of mystery and full of surprise.
I need You, God of New Beginnings, to set the course,
And guide my feet in the way of righteousness.
My times are in Your hands, Triune God, give me life.
