Read Philippians 1:1-6

I am confident that God will complete the good work he started in me.

God has started  to work in my life. With all my imperfections, weaknesses and sinful tendencies, some major life-reconstruction is certainly needed. I committed my life to following Jesus over 60 years ago as a young Pilot Officer in the RAF, and God, by his Holy Spirit, began to change all sorts of things in me. That work of building a new life still continues. One day he will complete it – but not while I am still hampered by flesh and blood.

Our Heavenly Father is the ultimate and perfect building contractor. He has got the scaffold up around me, and all the building blocks are ready to hand. He is patiently shaping the present ME using a divine pattern – and he is going to finish the job. He is not the kind of contractor who will walk away with some bits and pieces unfinished. Nor will he simply shrug his shoulders and declare that a nearly-done job is pretty well good enough.

I am secure in the hands of God because he wants to finish the work of reconstructing me; he will not leave the building site with rubbish around. His good work will be to make all his people… like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29)

That is your secure destiny – and God’s good plan will not be thwarted.
