v 2. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Once we have read the headline story ‘God Loves you’ we are inevitably carried forward to the practical sub-plot. If Christ loved you so much, now get on with loving one another. You can’t simply have the headline and ignore the practicalities that follow from it.
Christ loved us to the point of self-sacrifice, so we can offer nothing less than ourselves in sacrificial love to others around us. We might sometimes talk about giving our time, or our money, or using our talents and abilities for God in serving other people, but the nub of the matter is that if we are to live a life filled with love, then it is offering of the whole self and nothing less. And that might just be a bit uncomfortable, or inconvenient. And it might be for people who are a little less than loveable. Was the cross anything less for Jesus?
As you give yourself in love like that, you will appreciate the love that God has for you, and the price that Jesus paid to make it available to you.
