Read 2 Timothy 2:1-13

v 2. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

Passing the message on has a long term aim as well. Timothy, as a Pastor, also had to encourage and equip another generation to continue passing on the gospel message. Our vision is bigger than just the people in front of us, it encompasses our children and their children, and so on.

When Paul was writing there were no Bible Colleges or Missionary Training Schools. It all came back to the local congregations and their leaders. The Great Commission we thought about on Wednesday was not just to announce Good News, it was to make Disciples – women and men who were serious about living as Christians, and equipping others who would be reliable in passing message on.

Wherever you stand in that process, and however challenged you might feel about it, be determined to act in a way that helps to pass on the Gospel.
