v 36. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
Philip was called out into the desert, and now Peter is called out of his comfort zone to meet with a Gentile – a Roman army officer. So Peter is able to share good news with this gentile family, much as Paul did when released from prison in Philippi. (Acts 16:32)
The very word ‘Mission’ seems to raise all sorts of ideas and anxieties in some minds, as if it requires detailed training, special qualities, even public speaking or great Bible knowledge. But not so! When you know Jesus as Lord, and realise that your sin has been forgiven, then you have got something to talk about. You are not talking about Church, but the promise of sin forgiven and peace with God through Jesus. Its not a big deal to enthuse about something or someone you know; in fact, you can even do it and smile!
That’s Mission according to the apostle Peter; it is talking about the central issue of life and death. It is a shared message of Good News:
that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
