Read Jeremiah 32:36-44

v 38. They will be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.

This is God’s ideal plan for His people: One heart – that is a common desire, One purpose – that is the thing we desire most to do; to worship God for ever.

There have been all kinds of things that I have wanted to do in life: climb mountains, explore other countries, look after my family, do a worthwhile job, etc You have your own list of desirable objectives in your life I’m sure.

It is worth questioning where worship comes in a list of ‘The things I really want to do.’ God wants it to be top of the agenda; not an afterthought, to squeeze in when it might be convenient.

Now don’t forget that worship is much, much more than just being in a service on Sunday; it is more than singing hymns and listening to sermons. It is the sacrificial offering of a whole life to God so as to bring honour to Him. It is having heart, mind and body tuned in to God, listening, responding and working for God in a way that puts Him first in every one of life’s decisions. This is worship of quality and substance, and you will notice too that it will bring benefit to us and subsequent generations!

Lord, put worship top of my agenda today, and every day. AMEN
