v 21. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
You are not alone in looking forward to a great transformation. We often major on what it means for us as children of God, no more pain, no more suffering, living for eternity in the presence of God, and so on. But hang on for a moment – the whole of creation will be renewed! It is not just for humans; it is for every created thing. Everything – yes everything – is looking forward with eager hope to this renewal of creation. All will be freed from what seems the current universal law of death and decay. We are part of the picture, and yes, a special part as we have been made in the image of God, but the picture is so much bigger than just humanity; it encompasses the whole of creation.
The view of creation that many hold, beginning with the Big Bang and developing to God’s blueprint universe, is small when compared to this New Creation of which we are already a part. As a child of God, you already share the divine life as you have received the Holy Spirit, so you can look forward to this future glory with total confidence.
