v 64. “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
‘Are you the Messiah?’ the High Priest asked when Jesus was on trial. Jesus’ reply drew a violent response from the High Priest.
‘Then the high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said, “Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy. What is your verdict?”
“Guilty!” they shouted. “He deserves to die!” ‘
It was this proclamation of coming glory that sealed Jesus’ fate.
And It is this truth that has sustained martyrs and other persecuted Christian believers down the centuries. This same Jesus, born in the lowly stable in Bethlehem, and then crucified amidst public shame at Calvary, who will certainly return as the Lord and Master of all creation. It is the reason why the Bible ends ‘ He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people. ‘ (Rev 22:20.)
