Saturday 20th February Daily Notes from The Hub (Lent)

v 2. But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.

It was clearly a well-known and accepted prophecy that a Saviour, the Messiah, descended from David, would be born in Bethlehem. Matthew records in chapter 2 that Herod and the Magi believed and acted on it.
