vv 11-12  For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.

Matthew records this in chapter 4 when Jesus was tempted to do something spectacular to prove His dependence on God. There were other occasions when Jesus was tempted in this way, such as when Scribes and Pharisees pushed Him to perform a miracle in order to prove His authority as a teacher (Matthew 12:38). Jesus never performed selfish miracles to attract attention; His purpose was always to bless other people.
