vv 22-23 The stone that the builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing,
and it is wonderful to see.
Jesus had a very clear idea of how His Father would reverse human opinions about Him. It is a very similar idea to the passage in Isaiah 53:3 about the ‘Suffering Servant’ ‘He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.’
But God has ways of vindicating His Son, and the Resurrection established Jesus as the cornerstone on which God’s Kingdom is built.
