Read Psalm 110
v 1. The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honour at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”
(quoted in Matthew 22:44)
It is usually the Pharisees who ask Jesus questions designed to trap Him into some incriminating answer. (Of course – He always answers in an unexpected way to silence His critics.) But here Jesus asks the question, and again the Pharisees are silenced!
It is worth noting that Jesus refers to the Spirit speaking when He refers to this Psalm. (Matthew 23:43) The psalms are more than just good poetry; they are inspired by God Himself and teach divine truth.
