Read Matthew 27

v 63. They told him, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise from the dead.’ 

The idea of Him rising from the dead had obviously been a memorable element in Jesus’ teaching. It worried the leaders that a resurrection might be faked and every step was taken to prevent that. They were sure Jesus was dead and their antagonism ran so deep that they wanted to be certain that He would be dead, gone and forgotten.  But God wanted otherwise …!
