v 12. clothe yourselves with tender-hearted mercy, kindness, humility, ..
His car positively gleamed in the sunshine; no bird pooh on the windscreen and no trace of mud around the wheels. Even the upholstery looked unmarked, and the mats spotless. What a wonderful impression you might have of the vehicle! To all intents and purposes, it looked faultless.

These three qualities, tender-hearted mercy, kindness, humility, are the underwear of a Godly character. They express what it is like under the bonnet of our Christian living and determine how we react to difficult people and trying circumstances. This is where the most significant changes occur in our lives as we follow Jesus. They demonstrate our attitudes and values, they enable us to become inclusive in our friendships and non-judgemental in our relationships, and they mould us into the kind of people for whom being Christ-like seems natural.
