Read Philippians 4:4-9

v 8  And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

What a great selection of adjectives to describe beautiful!  True . Honourable,   Right ,  Pure, Lovely,  Admirable. Excellent,  Worthy of praise. These are the things on which we are encouraged to fix our thoughts.  When our minds are given over to thinking in such a positive direction then our lives tag along behind and we are moulded into beautiful people.

Now here is the rub – it doesn’t just happen to us. It requires some mental effort and disciplined thinking. It could lead you to turning off the TV when your thinking gets drawn along unholy tracks. It might mean giving up some printed publication, or removing an app from your phone. And – perish the thought – it might involve some re-evaluation of your friendship circles.

Working towards a beautiful inner life is every bit as challenging, and costly, as a course of beauty treatment at the hands of a beautician!

Lord, please help me by Your Spirit to become a truly beautiful person.
