v 13 So prepare your minds for action….
I love an old translation of this verse which puts it this way: “ Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, “ Get ready for some serious thought he says to us. Tuck your flowing robes into your girdle and get ready to run! Being a Christian is a matter of repentance from sin, faith, and a willingness to follow Jesus – that is not complicated. But then He calls us to love God with our minds – and that means using our minds to think, and get to know Him better. I don’t believe he is inviting us all to become great scholars, and understand ancient literature and languages, but he is asking us to think about God. This happens as we listen to sermons, discuss in our Growth Groups, and read helpful books. Even these daily notes may cause you to think about God and come to know Him better.
Then in getting to know Him we find that we love Him all the more.
