Read Isaiah 30:8-17

v 15   This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“Only in returning to me
and resting in me will you be saved.
In quietness and confidence is your strength.
But you would have none of it.

Some of the leaders in Jerusalem had the idea of forming an alliance with Egypt and so defeat the Assyrians. (see v 16) They simply could not imagine trusting only in God.

So God’s word came to them in this verse – as it does to us today in our moments of perplexity. It is no use thinking of gaining success by our own power, which is puny. The only way forward is to quietly trust God.

Are you facing monsters in life today? Take to heart this promise of God about His care and provision for you.
