Read Isaiah 3:1-15

v 13  The Lord takes his place in court and presents his case against his people.

Isaiah imagines a court case being set up. The nation is on trial and the Lord presents the case for the prosecution. And what is the nature of the charge?

How dare you crush my people, grinding the faces of the poor into the dust?”

As with yesterday – it is not religion but social conduct. There was rampant injustice in the land. For all the outward appearance of religion it made no difference to social behaviour. This was a stirring, and always relevant, prophecy of God’s response to injustices in human relationships.
