v 3. This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
Hang in there Habakkuk, God is still there! Your prayers may seem to have no answer in the short term, but hang in, His purposes will be fulfilled. The prayer for proper justice will get an answer. Certainly – for sure – but God is not in a hurry. Habakkuk inhabited a world so different from ours in many ways, but just like ours in wanting answers NOW. He would have understood the quick-fix, instant solution world of today when it comes to prayer.
The lesson for today is about certainty. When we pray, be assured there is an answer. God is listening, He is answering, He is active, and His purposes of love will be worked out, but the future time of God’s answer may take a while to come through. Everything may appear to be slow moving, but wait patiently.
Not an easy lesson to learn, is it!
