Morning:        Psalms 50, 51 and 52

Evening:         Psalms 53, 54 and 55

Psalm 55:16.   But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.

Another turning point for sure!  Especially after the very modern sounding complaint of verse 11, ‘Everything is falling apart; threats and cheating are rampant in the streets.’

Verses 4-5 tell the story of the writer’s mental and physical anguish.

My heart pounds in my chest. The terror of death assaults me.
Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking.

That is the moment to pick up the advice of verse 22.

Give your burdens to the Lord, he will take care of you.

This turning point comes when the Psalmist realises he can give his burden away! Like a climber on a difficult stretch, he can hand his burdensome rucksack over to someone more able to carry it.

Whatever burden you find yourself carrying right now, realise that the Lord can carry it for you. Many of us struggle at times because we feel we ought to be able to manage.  Why be like that when God manages it for you?

There is an act of will involved in this turning point. The change does not come as a flash of inspiration, but rather as a moment of positive decision taken with the consent of the writer’s will. He declares ‘But I will call on God’

Give your burdens to the Lord, he will take care of you.

Thank you Lord!

AMEN and AMEN!
