v 6   And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into exile to Babylon. There you will die and be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.

Jeremiah paid a high price for speaking out the word that God had given him. This confrontation with Pashur, who was the priest in charge of the Temple in Jerusalem, was only one of many such incidents of violence directed against him which nearly cost him his life. He was regarded by many as a traitor who was weakening the resolve of the people to fight against Babylon. It is so hard to imagine his feelings at being persecuted for speaking out the words God had given him. But more of that tomorrow!
